Christopher Ware

Christopher joined Chambers following the successful completion of his pupillage. He has a predominantly defence based practice which deals with those charged with a wide range of offences. His recent instructions include cases of threats to kill, robbery, GBH, possession with intent to supply and fraud and dishonesty offences.

He is a Grade 2 prosecutor, and is regularly instructed to act on behalf of the CPS and Department of Work and Pensions.

Christopher has previously worked for a leading firm of criminal defence solicitors, gaining experience in the preparation and management of cases covering all aspects of criminal defence work, including Criminal Cases Review Commission appeals, Crown Court trials and police station advice.

Fraud

Christopher was instructed as disclosure counsel by the Serious Fraud Office in the prosecution of an advance fee and rent ramping fraud: R v Peter Riley & others.

He was seconded for 6-months to the Financial Services Authority, where he advised in respect of Operation Tabernula, the FSA's largest ever investigation against insider dealing.

Christopher appeared as led junior counsel for the defence in the case of R v Nigel Barton & others, a 3-month trial concerning a complex and substantial conspiracy to set up an illegal tobacco manufacturing plant in the UK, following a lengthy HMRC/SOCA investigation.
