Inquests & Public Inquiries
In 2015, Julia was appointed to the counsel team of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse, the statutory public inquiry investigating whether public bodies and other non-state institutions have taken seriously their responsibilities to protect children from sexual abuse in England and Wales. She was junior counsel to investigations into children in custodial institutions (report published in February 2019), and the second phase of children outside the UK (report published in January 2020).
In 2023, Julia was appointed as junior counsel to the Independent Inquiry relating to Afghanistan, chaired by Lord Justice Haddon-Cave. This statutory inquiry was announced in Parliament by the Secretary of State for Defence in December 2022.
Julia has represented interested parties, including family members and medical professionals, in coronial proceedings.

Inquest Touching upon the death of SH
A registered nurse had been accused of causing the death of a care-home resident by inserting the wrong-sized catheter. She had been the subject of a gross manslaughter investigation by police and faced proceedings before the NMC.
