Laura Stephenson acts for Consultant cleared of all allegations of sexual assault and sexual harassment towards patients

Laura Stephenson acted for Dr A, an experienced Consultant, who faced allegations of sexually touching and harassing one patient and sexually harassing another. The Consultant had been investigated by the police in respect of one complaint and no charges had ever been brought against him. The case involved a number of defence requests for disclosure from the GMC. Following Laura’s representations, the hearing was adjourned for the GMC to fulfil its obligations, which resulted in significant disclosure. At the resumed hearing, none of the disputed allegations were found proved and the Tribunal found there had been no misconduct.

Counsel was instructed by Joanna Flowers of the Medical Protection Society.
