Head of White Collar Crime at Mishcon de Reya Joins 2 Hare Court

The Chambers of Jonathan Laidlaw QC, 2 Hare Court, are delighted to announce that they will be joined from 19th November by Alison Levitt QC. Alison was previously at Mishcon de Reya having founded their successful White Collar Crime and Investigations Group in March 2014.

Alison said: “I am delighted to be joining 2 Hare Court. Having established the White Collar Crime Group at Mishcon, following a period as Principal Legal Advisor to the DPP, I decided that I wanted to resume full-time practice as a Silk. I intend to build on my experience of private prosecutions, criminal cases with public policy implications, and other serious crime. Having worked in recent years with the distinguished and excellent barristers from 2 Hare Court, I am delighted to be joining what is a superb and extremely well-run set.

Jonathan Laidlaw QC, Head of Chambers, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Alison as one of our team of (now) 17 QCs. She brings a wealth of experience, and an extraordinary reputation. She is a fine lawyer and advocate with extensive appellate appearances, a distinguished lecturer, an advocate of improved legal education, and an admired role model for women barristers. We look forward to her achieving great success at 2 Hare Court.

Alison Levitt QC was called to the Bar by Inner Temple in 1988. She became a Recorder in 2007 and a QC in 2008. Following twenty years in private practice, she was headhunted to become Principal Legal Advisor to the Director of Public Prosecutions. After five years in that role she joined law firm Mishcon de Reya as a Partner. She is a former Chair of the Young Bar, former Secretary of the Criminal Bar Association, and is currently Chair of Education and Training for her Inn of Court, Inner Temple, where she is a Governing Bencher. She is also Trustee of the respected think tank RUSI.

2 Hare Court is recognised both nationally and internationally as one of the UK’s leading sets, specialising in Criminal Defence, Criminal Prosecution, Fraud, Health & Safety, Professional Discipline, and other related fields. The set is renowned for its high quality advice, advocacy and client service.
