Ranked as a Tier 1 Silk by the Legal 500, Naeem has extensive experience of defending at the highest level in the most serious and high profile of cases. He has successfully defended clients in multi – defendant terrorism, national security, murder, drug conspiracies and complex fraud cases. In recognition of his ability, exceptionally for the Criminal Bar, Naeem was appointed Queen’s Counsel at 14 years call.

From the Criminal, Coronial and Administrative Courts, through to the Regulatory fields; Naeem is frequently instructed to act for both individuals charged with the most serious of offences and organisations seeking to protect their position through a combination of robust advocacy, proactive advice and pragmatism.

Consistently cited in both Chambers UK and The Legal 500 as a leader in his field, Naeem is rightly regarded as one of the leading defence advocates in cases involving allegations of terrorism. To date, he has been instructed in over 40 terrorism cases and is one of a handful of barristers to regularly act for individuals subject to TPIM (formerly Control Order) proceedings.

Many of Naeem’s cases have received substantial coverage in both the national and international media. He was instructed as Leading Counsel in R v Diini & Others, SSHD v EB (TPIM), R v Msaad & Others, and R v Incidal & Rarmoul-Bouhadjar (aka R v AB & CD) to name but a few. Naeem also appeared as Leading Counsel before a “Special Court” of the Court of Appeal made up of both the President of the QBD and the Lord Chief Justice in the guideline section 5 Terrorism Act case of R v Kahar, Ziamani & Others.
