R v DO, Snaresbrook Crown Court
Acted for a defendant accused of causing GBH contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861. The defendant was alleged to have stabbed the complainant during an argument. The defendant maintained that he had acted in self-defence. The defence instructed a psychologist who specialises in PTSD and called her to give live evidence at the trial. The defendant was acquitted following a four-day trial.
R v T, Wood Green Crown Court
Acted for a defendant accused of aggravated burglary. The defendant was found unfit to plead following the service of two defence psychiatric reports. A complex trial of the issue followed. The defendant was acquitted of aggravated burglary and found to have done the act of simple burglary. The judge imposed a Supervision Order.
R v L, Luton Youth Court
Acted for a defendant accused of multiple offences of rape. The defendant was 14 years old at the time of the alleged offences. He had multiple undiagnosed mental health issues including autism and PTSD. The defence obtained a detailed psychological report in advance of trial. The report author gave evidence at the trial. The case was prosecuted by King’s Counsel. Following a 7-day trial, the defendant was acquitted of all charges.
R v JD, Ipswich Crown Court
Acted for a defendant accused of causing GBH contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861. The case involved an allegation that the defendant had struck another man in the head with a hammer causing serious injuries. The defendant was acquitted following a 5-day trial.
R v FR, Wood Green Crown Court
Acted for one of four defendants in a conspiracy to kidnap and blackmail in a three-week trial. The defendant was acquitted of both counts. For more details click here.
R v CT, Luton Crown Court
Acted for a defendant accused of sexual offences against children in a two-week trial. The case involved complex expert evidence relating to the use of the dark web.
R v LC, Willesden Youth Court
Acted for a 14-year-old defendant accused of stabbing another child in the chest. The case resulted in the imposition of a Referral Order.
R v CR, Maidstone Crown Court
Acted for a defendant accused of a section 18 GBH offence committed against a fellow serving prisoner at HMP Swaleside. The trial lasted one week.
R v GG, Maidstone Crown Court
Acted for a defendant accused of section 18 GBH. The accused was alleged to have deliberately driven his car at the victim. The victim suffered significant injuries including the loss of his leg. The offence was alleged to have taken place following the burglary of a large cannabis factory. During the course of the trial, the prosecution accepted a guilty plea to causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
R v LB, Inner London Crown Court
Acted for a defendant accused of multiple counts of sexual assault. Following cross-examination of the complainant, a successful submission of no case to answer was made, resulting in verdicts of not guilty.
R v N, Cambridge Crown Court
Defended an individual accused of witness intimidation involving the use of a knife. The defendant was acquitted following a one-week trial.
