2 Hare Court | London Barristers Chambers - One of the UK's leading sets

Christopher Veal joined 2 Hare Court as a Pupil in September 2024.

Before joining chambers Christopher was a Warfare Officer in the Royal Navy. In this role Christopher navigated waters across the globe from the largest ship in the fleet – the aircraft carrier HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH – to one of the smallest, HMS SABER. In addition to his core warfare role, Christopher worked as a command legal advisor. Here, he advised sailors and navy command on legal issues from theft and sexual offences to international humanitarian law and the law of war.

On leaving the Navy, Christopher worked as legal counsel and an advocate for a property company assisting in their civil matters. This included drafting particulars of claim, particulars of defence, case review, general legal research and appearing in County Courts and Tribunals. Alongside this work he volunteered at Freedom Law Clinic, continuing his interest in criminal law by assisting with legal research for criminal appeals in England & Wales.

Christopher is a mentor for Griffin Law and Vocalise. Both programmes focus on criminal law and jury trial advocacy – Griffin to school children and Vocalise to inmates at HM Prisons. Christopher maintains a keen interest in military law especially international humanitarian law and the human aspect of warfare.
