Christopher Geering has a strong reputation in the fields of Professional Discipline and Coronial Proceedings. He is currently ranked Band 1 in Chambers and Partners, which notes that “Christopher possesses extensive knowledge in all aspects of professional discipline and is a case law genius… devastatingly effective.”
Christopher recently published A Practical Guide to Fitness to Practise Proceedings Before Healthcare Regulators (Law Brief Publishing), a practitioner-focused text providing practical guidance on fitness-to-practise proceedings and healthcare regulatory law. He also authored the Professional Discipline “In-Depth Overview” for Chambers and Partners UK 2026.
He has appeared before all the major healthcare regulators, as well as teaching, surveying, and accountancy bodies. In addition to fitness-to-practise proceedings, he appears in the High Court, acting both for and against regulators.
Christopher was shortlisted for Professional Discipline Junior of the Year at the Chambers and Partners UK Bar Awards 2024.
In his coronial work, he has represented NHS Trusts and care homes, as well as individual nurses and doctors, across a wide range of inquests. He has considerable experience in both Article 2 and jury inquests.

Christopher’s practice is primarily focused on professional disciplinary work. In terms of healthcare regulation he regularly prosecutes and defends in the General Medical Council, General Dental Council, General Optical Council, General Pharmaceutical Council, General Chiropractic Council and the Nursing and Midwifery Council. He has also appeared before internal disciplinary proceedings.
Outside of healthcare, Christopher has appeared in numerous cases before the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
He has a significant High Court appellate practice. Whilst he has represented the regulator in the High Court, he primarily appears for or advices registrants on the merits of appealing.
