2 Hare Court, the Chambers of Jonathan Laidlaw KC, is a long-established set, whose Members provide first-class advocacy and advice over a wide range of specialist areas and in the most high-profile and complex cases. Chambers is recognised nationally and internationally as one of the leading criminal and regulatory sets in the UK.
Chambers was founded in the 1950s and has always been located in Hare Court in the Inner Temple. It has long enjoyed a stellar reputation, originally in the field of criminal law but over the last 20 to 25 years also in business and financial services crime, regulatory crime, professional discipline, public inquiries, inquests and sports law.
Our reputation in our traditional and current areas of specialism owes much to former members who were the leaders in their day and whose reputations remain undimmed, including:
- Michael Kalisher, QC a former Head of Chambers and in whose memory The Kalisher Trust was established.
- Sir Allan Green KC, former First Senior Treasury Counsel and Director of Public Prosecutions.
- HH Stephen Kramer KC, a former Head of Chambers and Senior Circuit Judge at the Old Bailey.
- David Waters KC, a former Head of Chambers and former Senior Treasury Counsel.
- Sir Andrew Edis, former Senior Treasury Counsel and now a Lord Justice of Appeal.
- Dame Bobbie Cheema-Grubb, former Senior Treasury Counsel and now a High Court Judge.
- Sir Julian Goose, now a High Court Judge.
Past and current members have appeared in some of the leading and most newsworthy cases of this century and continue to do so.
We moved from 1 Hare Court to our current premises in 2000 and, whilst choosing to remain in the Temple, have refurbished our accommodation to provide a modern environment which meets the needs of our clients, staff and Members.
