Jack Burnell Williams was an 18-year-old Trooper at Hyde Park Barracks when he was found dead in his room on 28 September 2022.
On 12 February 2026, Assistant Coroner Bernard Richmond KC concluded that Jack died by misadventure at a time when he was under the pressure of a very heavy workload, which was more than any other member of his troop.
The Coroner heard evidence that Jack’s death and the internal Service Inquiry that followed it has led to changes to reduce the workload for troopers, increase staffing levels, and improve living conditions at Hyde Park Barracks.
