Members of 2 Hare Court recently visited St John’s & St Clement’s Primary School in Peckham as part of our outreach work. We spoke with pupils about the criminal justice system, the rule of law, and how these principles underpin a democratic society.
The visit concluded with a mock trial: members of Chambers took on the roles of advocates, the class teacher sat as the judge, teachers and teaching assistants played the witnesses and the defendant, and the pupils formed the jury. The exercise challenged the children to think critically about the evidence, the right to a fair trial, and collective decision-making.
At 2 Hare Court, we are committed to engaging with young people, demystifying the criminal justice system and promoting diversity at the Bar. Our sincere thanks to the staff and pupils of St John’s & St Clement’s Primary School for their enthusiasm, curiosity, and thoughtful participation.
