In a case that garnered national attention, Harry Laidlaw appeared for Peter Williams, a Cornish fisherman and ex-care worker, who was convicted and sentenced in August 2025 for his involvement in a complex £18 million cocaine smuggling operation off the Cornish coast. Mr Williams was implicated in the illicit importation of large quantities of cocaine using a RHIB (rigid-hull inflatable boat), after a dramatic chase and interception by the UK Border Force on the shoreline near Land’s End.
