Gudrun Young KC represented Dr K, a Harley Street Consultant in geriatric medicine, who stood trial at Southwark Crown Court accused of eight counts of sexual assault. It was alleged that between October and December 2021, he had sexually assaulted a young woman employed part-time as an administrative assistant. Dr K, 77 years old at the time, denied that he had touched her as alleged and maintained that the allegations were fabricated after the complainant had misconstrued his old-fashioned and somewhat eccentric communication style and saw an opportunity to make a claim against him. He was unanimously acquitted by the jury on all eight counts after a trial lasting eight days.
Gudrun Young KC was instructed by Andrew Rootsey of Murray Hughman Solicitors.
