Harry Bentley and Emma Kutner (2BR) represent individual found not guilty of pension investment conspiracy
Harry Bentley, leading Emma Kutner of 2 Bedford Row, represented an individual accused of introducing pension investors to a fraudulently operated investment company.
The prosecution case was that the investors had approached him because of his contacts and experience in the City of London financial services industry. Their pension funds were transferred to various SIPP’s (self invested pensions) before being used to purchase stock in a PLC.
Whilst the prosecution accepted real shares had been purchased, it was said those shares were essentially worthless because the company was not floated, held no assets and had no turnover. Having introduced the investors the individual was accused of acting as a go-between to reassure the investors over a period of 12 months.
Following a four month trial at Wood Green Crown Court the 11 person jury convicted three of the four defendants, acquitting Harry and Emma’s client unanimously.
Counsel were instructed by Sajad Chaudhury of Harewood Law Solicitors.
