Adrian Ward and Colossal Sports Management Ltd have both been suspended by The FA from all Intermediary activity up to and including 3rd December 2024, and warned about their future conduct.
Will Martin represented The FA throughout the disciplinary proceedings.
Approaching a player to enter into a representation contract before 1st January in the year of their 16th birthday, and offering inducements to a player to enter into such contracts, are prohibited by The FA’s Working with Intermediaries Regulations.
A well-known and widespread issue in the game, the harmful effects of such approaches were highlighted in the BBC’s investigative documentary series Panorama.
The FA alleged that Mr Ward approached the minor player on behalf of Colossal Sports Management Ltd throughout 2019.
Mr Ward and the company denied all wrong-doing.
An independent Regulatory Commission found all of the charges to be proven. The suspensions handed down to Mr Ward and Colossal Sports Management are thought to be the longest ever imposed for breaches of the same regulations.
The written reasons for these decisions will be published by The FA in due course.
Mr Ward and Colossal Sports Management are appealing the decision.
