Article written by 2 Hare Court pupil referenced in Independent Reviewer of Terrorism’s Report
In his March 2021 report “The Terrorism Acts in 2019”, the Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation, Jonathan Hall QC, assessed the operation of the Terrorism Acts 2000 and 2006. As part of his report, he evaluated the potential criminalisation of terrorist propaganda as raised by the Chief Coroner, HHJ Mark Lucraft QC, following the London Bridge and Borough Market attack inquests, and advised against criminalisation. Mr Hall’s discussion of this subject referenced an article written by one our pupils, Sapandeep Singh Maini-Thompson, for the UK Human Rights Blog which analysed how the proposed offence might be crafted in a manner compliant with human rights law.
