Lancashire Detective Constable cleared of Gross Misconduct at disciplinary hearing, Michael Rawlinson defending

Michael Rawlinson of 2 Hare Court has represented a Detective Constable from Lancashire who today has been cleared of Gross Misconduct at a disciplinary hearing.

The officer faced dismissal, and was accused of various matters including serious allegations that he had acted dishonestly in seeking an exemption from a speeding offence committed whilst on duty.

Following a 7 day hearing, the Misconduct Panel found that none of the allegations which allegedly amounted to breaches of Honesty and Integrity were made out and that the officer’s conduct did not constitute either gross misconduct or even misconduct.

The defence team comprised Michael, instructed by Chris Fallows of JMW, Manchester, assisted and supported by Samhia Mati, also of JMW, and Steve Rothwell of the Lancashire Police Federation.

Michael is a member of Chambers’ Professional Discipline Team and specialises in defending Police Misconduct cases. He regularly acts for police officers of all ranks across the country in misconduct, criminal, inquest and Judicial Review proceedings, as well as representing doctors, dentists and other professionals facing similar matters.
