Gavin Irwin speaks on the Sanctions Regime: 2020 webinar with LexisNexis Practice and Risk Compliance

In early July, Gavin Irwin (2 Hare Court, London), Genevra Forwood (White & Case, Brussels) and Patrick Murphy (Clyde & Co., London) remotely recorded a webinar on developments in the sanctions regime from UK, EU and US perspectives.

In Gavin’s segment, on UK law, he addresses:

  • Recent changes to UK financial sanctions under the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018;
  • Enforcement decisions and trends under the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation’s monetary penalty scheme;
  • Recent activity including: President Trump’s executive order authorising asset freezes and family travel bans against International Criminal Court officials and those assisting in their investigations; and, the introduction of ‘Magnitsky’ sanctions under a new UK regime targeting human rights abusers; and,
