Martin Hicks QC secures early acquittal in Uber Eats Driver Murder Trial

RB was one of a group of teenagers who allegedly set upon a delivery driver in order to steal his moped while stationary outside a café in a Battersea shopping precinct. The incident was witnessed by many other members of the public and also captured on CCTV. RB was said to be the third of a group of six to have been involved at the start in punching and kicking the deceased before fleeing the scene. Identity was not in issue.

At trial at the old Bailey and following cross examination by Martin, the court acceded to his legal submission of no case to answer and RB was acquitted. The trial has now concluded with convictions for other members of the group.
