Nikita McNeill Represented Coroner to Quash Inquest Following Murder Conviction

Nikita McNeill appeared in the Divisional Court yesterday on behalf of HM Senior Coroner for West London to apply to quash the inquest into the death of Peter Fasoli.

Mr Fasoli was found unresponsive in his burning home in 2013. London Fire Brigade concluded the fire was caused by a faulty LED and the inquest recorded an accidental death. Months later Mr Fasoli’s nephew found footage on the deceased’s laptop of what transpired to be his murder. In 2017 Jason Marshall was convicted of murdering Peter Fasoli and lighting the fire to conceal the evidence.

LJ Hickinbottom, sitting with Lambert J, described the facts as “quite extraordinary”, and granted the application to quash the verdict and order a fresh investigation and inquest into the death. The case has been report in the Evening Standard and Metro.
