DI, and other family members, were charged with manslaughter, false imprisonment and causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult.

The Prosecution’s case was that the deceased, the brother of DI, was restrained with cable ties, rope and handcuffs at the family home because the family thought he was possessed by a demon and that they could cure him by performing an exorcism.

After a six-week trial at the Old Bailey, the client was unanimously acquitted by the jury on all counts.

Martin Hicks QC and Scott Ivill were instructed by Rumit Shah of Galbraith Branley solicitors.
