Angus Bunyan and Howard Watkinson Obtain 10 Convictions in £8m Vehicle Fraud

Angus Bunyan leading Howard Watkinson has successfully completed a series of long-running trials at Kingston Crown Court.

The case, investigated by Counter Terrorism Command, involved the targeted theft of hundreds of high value vehicles in the UK and Europe and the subsequent disguising of their identities by exploiting a loophole in the DVLA registration process. As well as issuing fake number plates, the gang used programming technology to clone microchips for high-end vehicles and had sophisticated equipment used to block vehicle tracking devices.

The criminal network had links to organised crime in Italy and elsewhere and the scale of their operation was truly industrial.

Angus and Howard were instructed by CPS IJOCD.
