What is being reported to have been the biggest fraud ever prosecuted privately ended yesterday at Southwark Crown Court with the conviction of Paul Sultana. He was one of a team of fraudsters who defrauded the Allseas Group (a Swiss oil and gas company) of €100m. The defendant was sentenced to a term of eight years’ imprisonment.
Jonathan Laidlaw QC, instructed by Mishcon de Reya, acted for the prosecution and Mr Sultana was represented by Martin Hicks QC and Vivienne Tanchel, instructed by Hughmans.
