Sallie Bennett-Jenkins QC has successfully secured the acquittal of her client who was charged with 11 counts of rape and sexual offenses against 2 complainants dating from 27 years ago.
The allegations were made against a backdrop of attempts to extort money from the defendant and collusion between the complainants, who were related to each other.
Consideration of an application for costs against the prosecution is ongoing, on the basis that the police investigation was flawed from its inception and that the prosecution failed to properly consider the effect of the evidence that the complainant had attempted to extort money from the defendant.
Sallie was instructed by Ifran Mohammed of Shafi Solicitors.
