The FA has imposed an 18 month ban on Joey Barton for betting on football matches in breach of the FA’s regulations.  Mr Barton laid a total of 1,260 impermissible bets over a 10 year period, some of which were laid on his own team to lose.  There was no suggestion of match fixing.
