Narita Bahra acts for client in Aylesbury Child Sex Ring Trial

Narita Bahra has successfully defended as leading Counsel in the Aylesbury Child Sex Abuse Trial.

Eleven defendants were tried on a fifty-one count Indictment. Narita’s client was one of two defendants who faced allegations by all complainants.

All 11 men went trial for 51 offences between 2006 and 2012 including multiple rape of a child under 13, child prostitution and administering a substance to “stupefy” a girl in order to engage in sexual activity.

Both victims came from troubled backgrounds and wanted to feel grown-up when they were befriended by the men, who groomed them by showering them with inexpensive gifts such as alcohol, DVDs, food and occasionally drugs.

While aged just 12 or 13, one of the vulnerable girls, known in the trial as A, was passed between 60 mainly Asian men for sex after being conditioned into thinking it was normal behaviour, jurors were told.

Many of the defendants were friends from the Aylesbury area. Some were married and had children, with some working on the market and a few working as taxi drivers.

Narita and her junior mastered all of the evidence and unused material in order to make a series of successful legal submissions. Narita’s skillful, focused and deft cross examination resulted in all substantive counts against her client being discharged at the close of the prosecution case. This resulted in only one count being left to the jury to deliberate upon.
