Conduct of Mini-Pupillage
The successful candidate is contacted personally by the head of the mini-pupillage scheme and a mutually convenient week is thereafter arranged within the period for which they have applied. Successful candidates will be provided with full details of directions to Chambers and what is required from them in advance of their arrival.
Mini-pupils are generally allocated to members of Chambers who are conducting trials and, where possible, they are sent to shadow counsel whose cases are likely to be concluded within their allocated week in order that they may see a case from start to finish.
Should the matter they are involved with finish unexpectedly early, then they are re-allocated to a fresh matter the next day.
Mini-pupils are welcome to return to Chambers at the end of the day to meet the tenants and to get a feel for the way in which Chambers operates.
Assessment
No mini-pupil is expected to prepare any written work or take an active role in the preparation or conduct of any matter.
No mini-pupil is assessed for their suitability for future recruitment during his or her week in Chambers.
