A specialist in criminal advocacy and advisory work on behalf of both the defence and prosecution.  His areas of specialisation in general crime include terrorism, serious and organised crime and murder. 

In serious and complex fraud he specialises in VAT / excise duty fraud and money laundering.

Acts for HMRC before the VAT and Duties Tribunals.  Representing HMRC in several appeals where it is alleged that transactions are connected with the fraudulent evasion of VAT (MTIC frauds).

Representing AF, who has been subject to a terrorist control order under the Prevention of Terrorism Act 2005 since 2006, in all domestic (Central Criminal Court, High Court, Court of Appeal and House of Lords) and Strasbourg proceedings.

Acts as Special Counsel and Special Advocate in criminal and civil cases:

  • In 2004 appointed to the Attorney-General’s Special Counsel (Public Interest Immunity) Panel.
  • In 2005 appointed to the Attorney-General’s Special Advocates Panel.

In 2005 appointed to the International Criminal Court list of victims & defence counsel.
