Following completion of her 3rd six pupillage, Sarah Turnock was invited to join Chambers in September 2009. She is now in her second year as a practising barrister.
Sarah prosecutes, defends and advises on all criminal and related matters. She has extensive experience of advocacy and advisory work in proceedings before the Magistrates' and Crown Courts, having prosecuted and defended at all stages of proceedings, including an appeal against conviction at the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey).
In addition to her publicly funded work, Sarah is now developing a busy practice of privately funded matters, particularly relating to road traffic legislation, and is also undertaking an increasing amount of regulatory work having recently defended in a prosecution by the Environmental Agency.
Sarah also maintains a particular interest in financial crime, having been regularly instructed in contested cash forfeiture hearings, including associate appeals by HM Revenue and Customs, having acted for both the defence and the Department of Work and Pensions in cases of benefit fraud, as well as in numerous confiscation hearings at the conclusion of criminal proceedings. Moreover she contributed to the 2 Hare Court seminar series when earlier this year she was extensively involved in the research, drafting and preparation of a lecture on new developments in the law of confiscation.
Sarah's main area of practise is the South Eastern Circuit, though she is no stranger to travelling, having appeared in the Crown Courts at Nottingham, Newcastle, Bolton and Worcester.
