A criminal specialist, having conducted the full range of criminal work including murder trials; specialist fields such as police corruption; major fraud (including SFO work); criminal misconduct in medical professions; drug trafficking and Flying Squad work.

He is considered a tenacious opponent, with a detailed focus on legal argument and disclosure issues. His experience both defending and prosecuting gives him an informed view of the other side’s likely problems in a case.

Other work specialisms include third party witness summons work and the VAT appeal tribunal work.

Since taking silk in 2005, 75% of practice has been conducting murder cases at the Old Bailey. His third party witness summons practice is principally related to representing charities holding confidential information who are drawn into the criminal process by either the defence or prosecution.
