Considered tactically astute, particularly in difficult cases, he has specific expertise in cases or public inquiries with a quasi-civil or public law content, human rights focus and complex range of medical issues. He is an excellent lawyer with a strong advisory practice.
His reported trial cases include the Bloody Sunday Inquiry; R v Lord Saville of Newdegate ex parte Soldier H; R v Central Criminal Court ex parte Bright, Alton and Rusbridger (David Shayler).
He acted as Independent Counsel to Operation Gestalt (the Met Police investigation into HM Customs and Excise conduct in London City Bond appeal cases and the Butterfield Review.
Last year he defended Sean Cahill, former Millwall footballer and brother of Australia and Everton football star Tim Cahill, following his extradition from Australia.
Recently he successfully defended a young muslim company director with a first class degree in law, charged with conspiracy to defraud.
He is currently defending an English muslim convert , charged with terrorist offences under the Terrorism act 2000, in an appeal before the House of Lords.
