Emily was invited to join 2 Hare Court in April 2008 following successful completion of an eighteen month pupillage.

Emily prosecutes, defends and advises in all areas of crime. She has comprehensive experience in trial advocacy in the Magistrates' and Youth Courts and is rapidly developing her advocacy skills in the Crown Court. She is now a Grade 2 CPS prosecutor.

Recently Emily has successfully defended in a number of privately funded driving and general criminal cases. In addition she has been instructed as prosecution second junior in terrorism and flying squad prosecutions. Currently she is acting as defence junior in the preparation of a petition to the House of Lords in R v K (the interpretation of terrorist offences). She also has experience of representing defendants in extradition hearings.

Before joining Chambers, Emily worked at Byrne and Partners, London where she developed her knowledge of large-scale criminal fraud work, including appellate work in the Court of Appeal. She also gained experience of medical regulatory work.

Emily has represented non-funded clients appearing in Social Security tribunals and has also worked with the Street Law project to deliver workshops on the criminal law to young people at youth centres and exclusion units.
