Crime and Regulatory

Alex defends, prosecutes and advises in all criminal matters, in the magistrates’ court, crown courts and the Court of Appeal.  Recent instructions have included serious offences of violence (Section 18 GBH), firearms offences, sexual offences (distribution of child pornography (level 4)) and fraud.

She is currently instructed as the second junior in the case of R v Delroy Grant (the ‘Nightstalker’) involving multiple allegations of rape, sexual assault and burglary of elderly victims over a 17-year period.

Alex also has experience of VAT tribunal work. She is instructed as the second junior in a large-scale multi-million pound VAT appeal involving complex national and international VAT fraud.

Extradition

Alex advises and appears on behalf of defendants in extradition proceedings in the magistrates’ court and on appeal to the High Court.

Courts Martial

Alex also defends in court martial proceedings in the UK and in Germany.

Before coming to the Bar Alex lived in Russia for several years working for Human Rights Watch and then BP.  More recently, she worked on death row appeals in the Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago sponsored by the Centre for Capital Punishment Studies.
