Environmental
Members of our Environmental team have prosecuted and defended in some of the most important environmental cases over the last 20 years, which in turn have helped shape environmental policy. Our particular expertise is regularly called upon whenever there are criminal proceedings involving complex, novel or difficult aspects of environmental law.
We are regularly instructed by the Environment Agency, and also defend in such cases, and have been involved in major trials involving issues such as waste and waste shipment (e.g. R v Grosvenor plc, one of the largest cases ever brought by the Environment Agency, and R v Hillier Nurseries which led to a major change in the law relating to waste packaging). We are also involved in nationwide and inter-government department cases (e.g. R v Valler and Ballard).
