Julian Campbell

Julian Campbell - Director of Clerking

Julian accepted the role of Director of Clerking in September 2012 following a successful period of consultancy to chambers. He has 32 years' of clerking experience and is dedicated to providing a professional and personal service to all clients of Chambers. He has overall responsibility for all aspects of Chambers' practice management, marketing and business development.

Julian has extensive experience in the areas of health & safety, trading standards, environmental, product liability, insurance, construction, professional negligence, clinical negligence and personal injury law.

MacSweeney, Maurice

Maurice MacSweeney - Director of Business Development

Maurice manages a number of key client relationships and supports Julian in the development of our non-criminal practice areas, particularly in healthcare, accountancy and financial services regulation, and other white collar matters.  He also advises on enquiries from in-house counsel, licensed access and direct public access clients.  He is also responsible for the the operation of our marketing and client event programmes.

Maurice joined Chambers in 2009 from a global recrutiment company, where he sourced partners and associates for City and International firms.  Prior to that he worked for a specialist firm of fraud solicitors.  He graduated in English and Law from the University of Cambridge, and is a member of the Legal Practice Managers' Association, the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and the Health and Safety Lawyers' Association.

Heaviside, Ben

Ben Heaviside - Senior Practice Clerk

Ben is the first point of contact for all matters concerning our barristers' diaries.  Aside from diary management, Ben assists in managing the practices of all members of Chambers in conjunction with the Director of Clerking, but he has a particular focus on the junior barristers.  Ben is trained in managing Public Access cases, and regularly handles queries from clients as part of the Bar Council's Public Access scheme.

Johnson, Tara

Tara Johnson - Practice Clerk

Tara joined 2 Hare Court in October 2010 having previously worked at a leading Civil set, and she is the senior of our two Practice Clerks.  Tara assists Ben in the day-to-day running of the diary by ensuring our clients' cases are effectively serviced, and by liaising with court staff.  She also has particular responsibility for diary and other clerking issues arising from our members' non-criminal work.  Tara is trained in managing Public Access cases, and will be pleased to assist members of the public who wish to instruct a barrister directly.

 Sharpley, Victoria

Victoria Sharpley - Practice Clerk

Victoria has been with Chambers since September 2011, when she joined as the Junior Clerk.  She was promoted to her current position in June 2012.  Her primary area of responsibility is the management of our members' work in the Magistrates' Court, liaising with court staff and ensuring hearings in our clients' cases are efficiently serviced.  She also deals with all aspects of billing this work.  In addition, she provides support to Ben and Tara in managing the diary.

 Wall, Steve

Steve Wall - Chambers Administrator

Steve has been with Chambers since 1975, and is responsible for the management of our Facilities.  He also deals with 2 Hare Court's financial matters, and manages external supplier contracts.  In addition, Steve oversees our relationship with the Legal Services Commission.

 Colmer, Lee

Lee Colmer - Fees Clerk and IT Administrator

Lee has been with Chambers since 2007, and is responsible for the management of our members' fees.  He will be pleased to discuss any matters related to billing and credit control.  In addition, Lee is our main point of contact for all matters relating to our IT systems, and our Criminal Justice Secure eMail accounts.
