Since his appointment as Treasury Counsel in August 2002, Jonathan has established himself as one of the leading practitioners at the criminal bar.
In his capacity as Senior Treasury Counsel, he is instructed to prosecute in the most serious and sensitive criminal cases. He has considerable experience of cases involving allegations of murder and terrorism and a recognised expertise in handling cases involving a scientific dimension or complex disclosure issues. In addition, he provides advice to the Attorney General and others on a range of topical legal issues being considered by the appellate courts.
He is listed as a leading Silk in Chambers and Partners Guide where he has been described as a "truly exceptional Treasury Counsel” and most recently as "incredibly cool under pressure”, "a granite like and tough opponent” and as counsel who is "respected as much by the judges as he is by his opponents”.
