Christopher prosecutes and defends those charged with a wide range of offences. His recent instructions include cases of serious violence, supply of drugs and fraud and dishonesty offences.

He is a Grade 2 prosecutor, and is regularly instructed to act on behalf of the CPS and the Department of Work and Pensions. He has prosecuted those involved in the London riots, including for offences of arson and violent disorder.  

Christopher has previously worked for a leading firm of criminal defence solicitors, gaining experience in the preparation and management of cases covering all aspects of criminal defence work, including Criminal Cases Review Commission appeals, Crown Court trials and police station advice.

 

Fraud

Christopher is a member of the 2 Hare Court Fraud Team.

He was instructed as disclosure counsel by the Serious Fraud Office in the prosecution of an advance fee and rent ramping fraud: R v Peter Riley & others.

Christopher was seconded for 6-months to the Financial Services Authority, where he advised in respect of Operation Tabernula, the FSA's largest ever investigation against insider dealing.

He appeared as led junior counsel for the defence in the case of R v Nigel Barton & others, a 3-month trial concerning a complex and substantial conspiracy to set up an illegal tobacco manufacturing plant in the UK, following a lengthy HMRC/SOCA investigation.

 

Professional Discipline

Christopher deals with a range of professional discipline cases. He has appeared at the General Social Care Council Conduct Committee, and provided advisory work in respect of proceedings brought by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

 

He has also defended in Court Martial proceedings.
