Andrew Hurst is well established as a very experienced advocate in the field of Professional Discipline and in the criminal courts. He initially qualified and practised as a solicitor in a large City Firm as a litigator, before transferring to the Bar in 1992. He appears regularly before the GMC, the GDC and the NCTL, as well as being instructed by the GOC, GPC and the NMC. He also acts on behalf of Doctors and other healthcare providers at Inquests.
Instructing solicitors, fellow counsel and clients comment positively on his “people skills” and witness handling. He has a reputation of being a highly persuasive advocate, swiftly gaining the confidence of his Tribunal, and always giving his advocacy considerable thought in preparation and presentation. Solicitors have noted in Chambers UK his “ability to produce a lot more in the preparation than other barristers.”
Andrew retains his criminal practice based on his entire career before the Crown Court and in Court of Appeal. He particularly specialises in defending serious sexual cases.
